American Mechanical Saint Mary’s Christmas Drive
started as an orphanage for children. Since then, it has evolved into
a residential care facility that provides round the clock care for Virginia
children with severe physical and intellectual disabilities from babies
all the way up to 21 year old young adults. Some of these children were
born with disabilities, while others may have experienced traumatic and
life changing experiences that have left their family members unable to
provide care. Saint Mary’s provides a bright and beautiful building
and wonderful caregivers to provide these children an opportunity to grow
as an individual – to be respected, listened to, and loved. American
Mechanical loves what Saint Mary’s does for children, and provides
donations monthly to support their cause.
Every Christmas we ramp things up in the office with a toy drive for Saint
Mary’s, and we would like to invite our local community to attend
and give back to those who give so much to kids in our area. Our office
has a tree set up to receive donations, and while this has always been
held by employees, we wanted to ask that our customers if they would like
to participate in sharing the spirit of Christmas by dropping off a gift.
We will be delivering all gifts on December 20th, 2017. Saint Mary’s asks that all gifts be unwrapped or placed in
gift bags that the children can easily open. Donations can be scheduled
individually by calling Carmen Gerena at 757-622-2208 ext 304 or
[email protected] if you would prefer to donate in person. Please note, they cannot accept
stuffed animals, items made from chenille (respiratory problems), bicycles,
or clothing with sequins or other embellishments.
